How to Watch Al Jazeera English Live, On-line, for Free

Attention Americans: Al Jazeera Is Not a Mouthpiece for Terrorists
Al Jazeera is not affiliated with Al Qaeda!

The independent Doha, Qatar-based television news network, Al Jazeera, has been so castigated by Bush Administration officials that given a word association test, many Americans would probably say “Al Qaeda” upon hearing “Al Jazeera.” And yet Al Jazeera is hardly a mouthpiece for terrorists. Rather, it is a secular, serious, and highly professional news organization that offers some of the most informative televised reporting from the Middle East. In 2006, the network launched Al Jazeera English, a 24-hour international news program in English. Unfortunately, due no doubt to the smears it has endured, few U.S. cable television companies carry Al Jazeera English.

The Internet to the Rescue

Journalist Ahmed Shihab-Eldin, writing for the Huffington Post in an article titled, “Al Jazeera English Beats Israel’s Ban on Reporters in Gaza with Exclusive Coverage,” explains how to receive Al Jazeera English live via the Internet in high quality, freely and legally. To start watching now, download and install the free program Livestation, which is available in Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux versions. Registration is required, but is free. Alternatively, you can watch selected reports on Al Jazeera’s YouTube channel.

Thank you for this post. I agree completely. We no longer have journalism in this country and any contrary point of view is written off as inappropriate or anti-American.

You forgot one word: “officially”. Attention Americans: Al Jazeera Is Not OFFICIALLY a Mouthpiece for Terrorists. I did not listen to Bush, I listened to your news many times and somehow you ALWAYS take the side of the terrorist, hmmm maybe because they are your brothers and Islam causes 90 percent of world terror? Just a suggestion.

Hilz, Al Jazeera does not “always take the side of the terrorist.” Indeed, I’ve never seen it condone any act of terrorism. While it understandably has a pro-Arab bias, it airs a variety of viewpoints. See, for example, this recent discussion with the staunchly pro-Israel American law professor, Alan Dershowitz:

I would just like to say that aljazeera is the only news station that actually does not give bias news unlike sky news and bbc news.
Hilz, Islam’s main message is peace I think Bush is the real terrorist you need to read up on the religion before you make such ridiculous comments

Al Jazeera is a pro Arab TV station, I am not Arab why should I watch that instead of an impartial TV station in Europe? No thanks.

And yes Al Jazeera is also a mouthpiece for terrorists, besides being pro Arab.
